Virtual Therapy Across Canada
While we are often not permitted to advertise our services to provinces outside of Ontario, as Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario, we do serve clients in provinces outside of Ontario according to the rules and regulations set forth by each province's body that governs counselling and psychotherapy. For more information and clarification, please read on below for a province by province breakdown.
Locations in Canada We Serve
Interprovincial Practice Simplified
As Registered Psychotherapists (RPs) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), our practice is strictly bound by Canadian inter-jurisdictional standards. Because regulations apply based on where a client is physically located during a session, we are fully authorized to serve all individuals located anywhere in Ontario. We can also provide virtual psychotherapy to clients located in many other Canadian provinces and territories where psychotherapy is not restricted (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskathchewan, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut) by local legislation, provided sessions comply with CRPO virtual practice standards and local privacy guidelines.
Ontario
We welcome clients physically located in Ontario for both in-person and secure virtual therapy under our primary CRPO registration.
British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Newfoundland & Labrador
We welcome clients physically located in Ontario for both in-person and secure virtual therapy under our primary CRPO registration.
Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut
Virtual psychotherapy is available to clients located across all three Canadian territories under non-regulated cross-border telepractice allowances.
Prince Edward Island
Virtual therapy is available on a limited basis to PEI residents (up to three clients at a time per practitioner) in compliance with local CCTPEI non-resident practice guidelines.
**New Brunswick, Quebec, and Nova Scotia**
Because psychotherapy and counselling therapy are strictly regulated in these provinces, we are generally unable to provide care to clients physically located here without temporary authorization or local registration from their respective regulatory colleges; therefore is it important that clients inform us if they are located in one of these provinces. Please see clarification for each of these provinces below.
*New Brunswick*
We welcome clients residing in New Brunswick. Because our therapists are regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO), we ensure full transparency regarding our licensing credentials and accountability options. Should any concerns arise regarding your care, complaints are handled directly through our home regulator, the CRPO.
*Quebec*
While Quebec’s local regulatory guidance recommends that residents prioritize care with local QC-licensed professionals, out-of-province therapists are permitted to offer remote care. If you feel Journey Towards Wellness is the best match for your therapeutic needs, we are glad to support you. Should any concerns arise regarding your care, complaints are handled directly through our home regulator, the CRPO.
*Nova Scotia*
The Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT) strictly regulates the practice and title of Registered Counselling Therapists (RCTs/RCT-Cs). Out-of-province therapists generally cannot provide therapy to individuals physically located in Nova Scotia without holding active licensure or authorization directly through the NSCCT.
